I've had a problem with gritty dishes for some time now. Thanks to this forum I learned how to get to the chopper / macerator and check it for debris. I cleared out a lot of bone chips etc and the dw worked better, but still left grit. Yesterday a new problem arose; the dw will start, fill with water, but will then trip the breaker. We pulled the unit out and found a mouse house, but none of the wires were chewed.
I'll be grateful for any trouble-shooting help.

Remove the bottom panel, open the junction box and check all wires.

Remove the door panel and the control panel and check all wires.

Check the control board for any burned spots.

Post your findings, please.

Hi Gene -

As you suggested, I inspected the wires and control panel and everything checks out. I also re-checked the macerator/chopper and that's fine.

I did find something out of order, which I can't fix - the internal rear feed cap is stuck on the lower wash arm assembly and won't unscrew. Could that be the problem? How do I separate the two parts?

Hi Skip,

Can you provide the drawing reference number(s) for the part you are talking about?

Also the cause of the problem (tripping the breaker) could be a bad breaker itself. Plug the dishwasher in a different outlet and see if it'll work.

Here's the link to the parts diagram

Model KUDS01IJWH0

The dishwasher is hard-wired so I can't switch outlets.

I need the reference number for the "the internal rear feed cap ".

If the dishwasher is hard-wired, I would recommend to call a certified electrician to check the circuit breaker for the dishwasher. It's very good chance the problem is there.

In order to release the spray arm this part has to be turned CCW while you holding the spray arm with a second hand.

The lower spray arm hub has become cross threaded and so won't unscrew from the wash arm assembly. I've no idea how it became cross threaded and can not for the life of me separate the two parts. Any tricks of the trade?
