Hi, I have a 2 year old GE WPRE 6100...the inverter lights blink 4 times..

Mode shifter coil is open...so there is no spin...sometimes...

The whole assembly is about $100.00...is there a process to follow to change this? And Do I need to change any seals in the process?

Can the coil be removed from a new assembly and then just replace the bad coil?

Thanks,
Dave D. :)

Yes, you could replace just the shifter coil (not available as a separate part). It would save having to remove the tub and shaft. You would have to remove the complete mechanism from the cabinet and turn upside down. The problem with the mode shifter is a little thermal fuse (made in China) inside the coil housing. Hopefully later models have this problem solved.

I have seen this problem a lot less this year than last year. Is the problem solved? I don’t know for sure but GE sent us a letter saying it was.
