Maytag dryer has had intemitent squealing. Replaced both rear rollers today ( rollers only - reused old shafts). Lubed the belt idler pulley. Felt gaskets around the drum were are all OK ( not worn thru anywhere). Now the drum turns slowly and adding a few dry bed sheets as a test load stops it completely. Possibly a belt? The old one is intact, some cracks, looks pretty glazed over. Should I have replaced the roller shafts? The new rollers turned freely on them. They didn't spin like a roller skate wheel, but being just bushings, I felt they were free enough. Considering it has been working OK with one of the old rollers howling, I would have thought the belt was good enough. Did use silicone grease on everything and touched the idler pulley while lubing, but thought I cleaned it OK.
Any ideas?

Starndard maintenance where I come from is to replace the idler pulley and belt when replacing rollers. That should solve your problem, but also look at the front to make sure it is ok.

Thanks for the advice "Sidfink". About 10 minutes after I posted the call for help, I was studying why the belt wasn't aligned properly at the idler. Then I saw that the belt isn't supposed to run in that groove or indention at the back of the tumbler. I moved the belt to where it was tracking on the tumbler prior to my disturbing it and then the alignment at the idler was cured and the belt was snug. Runs fine now. If I have further issues I will follow your advice and replaced belt and idler. Thanks for the reply.
