Hi,
The gas stove on my magic chef oven is not igniting. the ignitor seems to be glowing and when I bang the stove with my hand it seems to ignite the flame. Is the ignitor defective> thanks for the advice.

Measure the current drawn by the igniter. If it's 3.2 amps or less, replace the oven igniter. - The oven igniter Part number: AP4012072

Using a volt meter can i measure the draw by removing the ceramic wire nuts and contacting one wire with each probe?

Yes, you can if it has an amperage scale. The meter probes should have a good, reliable connection for at least a minute.
