My 18+ year old washer seems to go through the entire cycle (timer at end) but doesn't drain/spin most of the time. If you manually move timer to spin cycle, it will spin but doesn't seem to be spinning as hard (long?) as it should. We thought the problem was the lid switch and replaced that, but it didn't help. Before we replaced the lid switch, there was no problem with it spinning except you had to manually go to that part of the cycle and restart the washer.

sounds like the timer... that won't have anything to do with it spinning faster though...

Pull cover off the timer and check for burnt contacts, if burnt, replace it. You also may have a bad clutch, push in lid switch in spin and try to stop the basket from turning, if easy to do, you have a bad clutch.
