Please help with any ideas on our dryer....it doens't start when the Start button is pressed; it makes a ticking noise like something is working. If I slightly move the cycle/timer dial, the dryer will go, but only for a few seconds, then will stop. If I put pressure of the cycle/timer dial, it will stay on, but only if I hold the dial. Any thoughts on what I need to do - if it's a dial replacement, is that complicated or semi-easy?

This is probably the timer motor and is normal. If I put pressure of the cycle/timer dial, it will stay on, but only if I hold the dial. If you mean you put pressure on the timer dial and then push the push-to-start and it keeps runnig as long as you maintain the preeessure then odds are high that the timer is toast.
Any thoughts on what I need to do Sounds like the timer is toast Item 21 in Section 1. I would open up the console and check the connectors at the timer just to be sure that one of them is not loose. NOTE: be sure to unplug the unit when doing this. If all OK I would replace the timer Any thoughts on what I need to do - if it's a dial replacement, is that complicated or semi-easy? Is fairly easy just be sure to unplug the unit. Also mark, make yourself a diagram or replace one wire at a time on the timer. I think you remove one screw from the top console and it then pulls forward and flips up to get into it. |
