Trying to help out neighbor, did a search and couldn't find answer. Timer don't move, neighbor replaced timer, per whirlpool suggestion. Still timer don't work and dryer still with no heat. Neighbor on fixed income. don't want to do shotgun troubleshooting. Thanks

Well, that's nice of you to help your neighbor, I hope we can find the problem.
I am assuming that the timer does not move in automatic settings. You need to use an electrical meter to check the following.
1. Make sure you are getting 120v to each side of the connection block.
2. Unplug the machine and take off the back and check continuity on the thermostats/thermal cutoffs.
3. Check to make sure the heating element is not broken or grounding out to the frame.
Also, thoroughly clean out everything while you are in there.
This should enable you to find the problem and make an inexpensive repair.
