Dear Forum Members,

We have a Thermador dual fuel gas stovetop/electric oven. When the oven is set to bake the broiler turns on too. I think it may be in the electrical circuit board on the front panel but not sure. Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Hello,
Is the clock on your range digital and in the center of the unit? If so, it sounds like an RDFS, RDDS, etc.. To be sure, you can remove the kick panel to access the data tag. If it is one of these ranges, the unit may cycle between the two elements while baking, but they should not both be glowing red at the same time. If this is the case, the only component which controls the elements is the control board, Thermador part number 486752.

It's the time of day and bake/broil etc, cooking time. time of day is readable but the other functions in red are faded. 17 yr old unit. Can I just replace bulbs or must the entire unit be replaced? if so, how much. It is digital I'm not with the range but I think it is located more on the left. I saw a post on this issue, but can't relocate it now.

I doubt it. It is probably part of the control board.

You will need the model number to proceed any further.
Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.com

Also sometimes the displays can be repaired by replacing some capacitors on the control board but you need electronics repair expertise to do this. Note that this is hit and as companies do not publish schematics of the boards so it cannot be troubleshot properly.
