The dryer runs but make loud grinding noise as if marbles are rolling around as the drum rotates. When it stops, there is a large clunk as if the marbles dropped to the bottom of the drum.

What does it sound like when you turn the tumbler by hand?

When I rotate the drum by hand, whatever is making grinding noise seems to rise (as if something loose) and reaches a point where it drops suddenly and then starts to rise and then fall, etc.

Not sure if that model has roller wheels to support the drum but if so i would suspect those roller wheels

I would also check drum baffles for loose coins that may have gotten stuck in between the baffle and the drum.

yeah actually a coin stuck in the baffle would be waaaay more likely than the roller wheels for a rolling marble noise. i would definitely look for loose change there

I doubt coins are making the noise, unless they are small gold bars. As I said, when hand rotated, the noise sounds as if something is being lifted and then drops with a loud thud.
I guess I'll have to open the unit up to see what is going on. I thought I might be able to order parts beforehand so I would have to take it apart only once.

One more thing: the unit does have rollers that ride at the back of the drum.

I agree the best thing to do is tare into the dryer and investigate ... The couse of the noise should be visable ... also check the blower wheel to see if its seperated in the center or if it has something stuck in the housing.
