The soap despenser on our GE dishwasher has slowly quit working. It started with the despenser cover not closing easily. It then would open only half way making filling hard. Now it gets stuck in a full open position. After gentle pressure it does move to the closed position but will not stay closed.

I looked up the parts that control the cover (828, 823, 840). 828 is no longer available. Is 828 a critical control part of the cover operation? What is the possiblity that the problem be involved with 823 only? Or am I on the wrong track?

Thanks. Tim:confused:

I would say you are on the right track but I would open the door up and take a look at what is going on before ordering parts.

Could be it is just gunked up.

Thanks for leading me to the information Web site. I will take the door apart and try to determine the cause of the problem before ordering parts. Tim:)
