The fan that exhausts to the rear of the frig does not start unless I tap the grate behind it. Areas of the exterior of the frig are getting warm particularly the section where the area between where the freezer door and food area door meet and seal. When I tap the area near the fan it kicks on and the warm exterior area cool after awhile. The fan appears to be sticking and not starting without a tap.

Here are your parts

Check if perhaps the connection is loose.
If not, replace the fan Item 21 in Section 12.
It is probably why your divider/case is hot.

Also a good idea to clean the condenser coils and the front kick plate grill while you are at it.
