I have a side by side. The freezer/ice maker work great. About a month ago ice started building up where the air flow vents enter the fridge, both upper and lower vents.. Then the fridge temp started to drop. If you remove the vents there is a solid sheet of ice under there.. You can cut off both freezer and fridge and unthaw it all and it will work okay for about 3 days then back to the same thing. When you turn the thermostat controls at the top the one that controls the freezer seems to be hard to turn but not the one of the fridge side.. Any help or ideas... I'm thinking the thermostat controls are bad.. but not sure any way to find out???? Can not afford repair man :(

I'm assuming the back of the freezer wall is all frosted up also? if so then go ahead and remove the back cover and u should notice a bunch of ice buildup behind that wall - that indicates a defrost problem and you will want to check to see if the defrost heater(s) is bad
