Here are your parts has a wiring diagram. Replacement parts for MAYTAG HYE3658AYW Dryer - Ele | AppliancePartsPros.comMy dryer was working fine 2 hours ago. Now it won't do anything. no reponse from any button or knob. No interior light when door is open. I have verified power to the outlet and to the terminal inside the dryer. What next? I am assuming that when you checked for power you checked the 240 volts and also the 2 - 120 volts to Neutral. Sounds like the thermal fuse is blown, Item 5 in section 5. I would also replace the hi-limit thermostat as that should have regulated the temperature to ensure the fuse did not blow. There is a scenario where the hi-limit does not have to be replaced re: a grounded element. Remove both wires from the heater and check it with a meter, Should be approximately 12 ohms. Then measure from each connector to the case/frame, both should be infinite ohms (open). If not you have a grounded element and it can over heat without control from the thermostats. If the heater is OK Then you have to find out what caused the heater to overheat. The most common cause is a dirty or malfunctioning vent system. Also could be a broken belt, bad drum seals, bad filter assembly to blower seal, dirty or loose blower wheel, dirty lint filter or it is coated with fabric softener residue. Basically anything that impedes/reduces the air flow over the heating coils. |
