I have a Whirlpool direct drive washer that does not spin heavier clothes dry (they are actually quite wet). Lighter clothes spin out "OK". Washer agitates fine and water pumps out fine. This washer gets a lot of use.

It seems as though with heavier clothes, the spin cycle has a hard time coming up to speed. After reading many of the posts, the problem may be the clutch. The transmission seems fine and is not leaking any fluids.

My intention is to order a clutch rebuild kit and at the same time replace the drive coupling while it is apart.

I have not taken the machine apart yet, but am I on the right track??

Thanks

Sounds exactly the right thing to do. Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the reply -- I'll order the parts tomorrow and let you know. Give me a couple of days. Steve
