frigidaire PLEF398ccb electric range serial VF31904750
When my burners are turned on I get an F5 error in the little window where the power level shows up. It happens on both sides. Not at the same time, just when each side is turned on, that side shows the error.
Looking around online, That error code indicates the need to replace the EOC. However, service documents tucked into the back of the unit in a plastic pouch don't say anything about the EOC and instead say the Power board or connections to it are the culprit.
The oven and clock work just fine. It only happens using the burners
Thanks,
Alan

Here is a wiring diagram http://manuals.frigidaire.com/p...pringfield/316255121.pdfHere is a manual http://frigidaireservicetips.com/pdfs/477_5.pdfNot sure if it matches your exact model but it should be close or at least some sections should appy. I would do the following first. Connector Cleaning / Checking Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |

We'll try connection cleaning first. It's cheaper then parts.

I found success in simply unplugging unit to reset the control board and plugging it back in to outlet.

I experienced the same problem Alan, after installing new oven control board. (BRAND NEW) The diagnosis was simple, the oven had run away, so I ordered in a new oven control panel. when power was applied to unit, everything look good. Then after approx. 1 minute, unit starts beeping. I turned on left burner, beeping stopped but then F5/00, left to right respectively, popped up in burner windows. ANY HELP?? Did you ever find the reason for your malfunction
