Try rotating the drum by hand to ensure it is not overloading the motor. It should turn fairly easily. Unplug it, open the unit up and give the motor, interior and the blower wheel a good cleaning. Also check that the motor's armature turns easily. If it still does it then odds are good that your motor is on it's last legs.
