While doing laundry, washer was set to pre soak, filled with water OK, but timer didnt advance and washer didnt start. Tried turning the dial to all different settings, and still wont start. I opened control panel, tested lid and check switch for continuity, they are fine, tested water level switch, tests fine as well. Check continuity of the main motor seems to be fine, although there are so many wires, wasnt sure which pair to test. I dont have continuity at the small timer motor though??? Any suggestions what to try next, wondered about trying to hot wire directly to the motor, but again wasnt sure which wires I would use, as it has 6 wires leading to it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the fuse next to the lid switch if you haven’t already done so. Also check the lid switch actuator to make sure it is making the lid switch when you close the lid. If all of that seems ok the timer is most likely but I would hate to guess on such an expensive part. If the above doesn’t work post back and I will try to help you diagnose the timer. As for continuity across the timer motor you may not have had the meter set high enough to read. In any case if you turn the timer by hand and it sill doesn’t work I don’t think the timer motor is bad. Thanks for the reply, I had already checked the fuse and the lid switch actuator, and they all check out fine. I understand what you mean about the meter setting for the timer motor, and you are correct, even when I move the dial by hand I cant get anything to work. I am about ready to replace the timer, but hate to guess at it. Any other suggestions I can check.

I am almost sure the timer is bad but the only way to know for sure is to pull the cover off the timer and check for a burnt contact or use the wiring diagram provided with the washer to check the contacts.
On the timer there is a #12 contact that feeds power to the timer motor. Since the timer motor isn’t running check that contact first. Then you need to check the Contact #10 and #8.
I have no info as to when these contacts are closed or opened you should have it on the mini manual on the washer.
I can’t describe how to do this without looking at mini. Let us know how you make out.

I ended up changing the timer and washer works fine again, thanks for the help on this. I managed to bugger up the little lid switch (white one) with 3 terminals, but I bypassed it for the weekend and will get a new one and replace next week.
