Just checking to see if I am on the right track here so any guidance would be great. I bought this dryer new a little over 3 years ago, but over the last 5 months it has starting taking more than one cycle (timed) to dry. I started splitting loads in half and that worked until two nights ago it stopped heating all together. I took the cover off the back checked the terminal for 220v with a voltmeter at the block and all is good there. I went to the thermal fuse and checked it for continuity and it is good as well. My next supsect is the heating element and the high limit thermostat and since they are in the same general area I was just going to replace both. Any ideas or thoughts on this? It seems like a pretty easy fix (I know enough to shut the power off and unplug it). Any help would be appreciated....thanks.

Well, before you spend the money check the heater coil for resistance (should be 10 to 20ohms). You can also take it out and inspect it, but if it has continuity and looks ok I would not spend the money to replace it.

If it is ok, check the thermal cutoff and the operating thermostat. Replace the thermal cutoff and high limit thermostat as a pair if needed.

Also, while you are in there take off the lint chute and clean it completely along with the blower wheel, internal vent and external vent.

That should do it.
