I am not sure where your problem is, but the bolt should be right under the cap, and you probably need to use a 7/16" socket with extension and not a 5/16".

Kenmore Elite Washing Machine 11023014100 (Model #)
You indicated to use a 7/16" sock wrench with extension - that is too large. The problem is I am unable to get the bolt out of the retainer spring to remove agitator to replace the dogs.

Ok, I think you are saying you have removed the agitator from the machine but are unable to get the bolt out.

Have you separated the lower agitator from the clothes mover? That should do it for you.

Once the bolt has been unscrewed from the shaft the agitator will lift out even if the bolt is still inside the assembly. You can now lift up the agitator from the tub. The agitator will then separate from the clothes mover so you can get to the parts.

This process is difficult some times because soap and scum has built up but once the screw is no longer in the shaft there is nothing holding the agitator down.

my problem is that i have a kenmore #11023014100 the auger is not operating right due to cam dogs being wore out. I need to get the cam out to replace the cam dogs. I need to get the agitator mounting bolt out to accomplish this task. Ive tried 5/16 socket thats to big. there is a retainer spring that has a smaller hole i will try 11/32 if that dont work i will try 9/32 the size of the bolt is the problem. thank you for your help bassdad
