can a counter height fridge be transported on its side for about an hour without damaging it?

You CAN transport the unit on it's side, but it is VERY important that once it is at the location where it will be used, that it sits upright for 24 hours WITHOUT being plugged in. After 24 hours, you can plug it in and use it normally. The oil has to completely settle back down before being plugged in or turned on.

You should have no problems after wards.
