Model #GSD720P48BA Changed pump and motor. The wire harness plugs were different. When I went to plug wire on motor the plug can go on prongs either way.. The older plug would go on older model only one way.. Does it make a difference on the new motors or not? Thanks, beforehand.

Cannot say for sure as you did not include a Model Number.

It should make no difference because as far as I know GE just uses AC motors so you do not have to worry about polarity.

I have a problem with the pump not pumping all the water out. it leaves about 3"s in bottom. The new fits all replacement pump holds half the volume the original assembly did. The drain hose is about 3' long and goes to sink drain connects above the trap. An incline about 20" or so..If I thought it would work I'd connect dish drain down below floor level..GE has attempted with good intent to supply replacement parts back to 1970 years.... But to cut back on pump housing size is ludicrous..I remember having ge portable units in appartments we lived in and pumped water up and over sink hieghts.. Not a Happy camper... Thanks again Den. Sincerely, John

I can find info on a GSD720P45BA on this site unfortunately it just shows the parts not the parts breakdown diagrams. Tried the GE site but had no luck there at all.

Your unit should be able to pump the water up at least 30 inches.

So I am assuming that the unit does not have a separate drain pump and that there is not a screened filter device at the back bottom of the tub.
Am also assuming that you have already checked your drain hose for plugs and since you replaced the pump that the sump is clear of debris.

The drain hose should loop up at least 10 inches higher than where it enters the house plumbing. This prevents it from siphoning water back out of the drain into the dishwasher.

Does the drain solenoid on the left hand side of the pump pull down when it should be draining?

The way it works is that the timer puts out approximately 10 seconds of power to the solenoid when draining should occur. Any longer and the solenoid overheats. The solenoid plunger pulls down, this moves the flapper valve to the drain position and the water is pumped out. The water pressure holds the flapper in the drain position until the unit is empty and then the springs pull it back to the wash position. Note that there should always be water in the sump as the pump bearings will burn up if you run the pump when dry.

You may already know the above but thought I should go over it just in case.

Did the pump kit come with instructions?
Is this the kit you purchased?

kit looks the same.
Kit #WD26X77 REPLACED BY WD26X10013

Your refresher has lead me to think I have the hoses backwards Sigh.
I'm glad I came here.. I'm sorry I've troubled you before I double checked.. You mentioned seperate drain pump. No my unit does'nt have one..but I put the hose mod on mine anyway..(Dummy) Therefore the fill hose became the size of the drain spout.. I'm sorry for any loose words about our wonderful GE Products. We've been married for 53 yrs and all appliances have been GE.....And DENMAN You Da MAN.

In the end that is all that matters.

I was wrong ... I was supposed to use the mod hose. In your kit picture is the drain where the rubber cover is with sping clamp? No it's the power spray right?

If by power spray you mean the upper spray arm then yes.
Drain is the bottom opening.
