I have just replacement my broil element. It seems to work fine. However, the part was mailed to me slightly bent so that when I installed it into the oven it does not touch the oven floor. It hovers about 1/3 inch above the floor and is held in place only by the 2 screws in the rear oven wall.
Will this be a problem in the future? Should I try to return the part to Sears? I asked the GE parts Department but she was clueless.

Have never seen a broil element that touches the floor, have only seen where they are mounted up by the ceiling. Are you sure it is not the bake element?
In fact I have never seen a bake or a broil element that touches the oven cabinet. The broil is usually mounted to the ceiling by stand off hangers. The bake is off the floor and just about always has a couple feet to support them.

Hi. Thanks for replying.
Model number RB757WH4WW
The broil element has three small braces attached to it. These 3 braces function like columns on a bridge and hold the element above the oven bottom.
On the original element, all 3 braces stood on the oven bottom and held the element level above the bottom. But since the replacement element is bent, none of the braces on the new element touch the oven bottom. The element is held in place only by the 2 mounting screws in the back. is this defective?

I think you mean the bake element Item 290 in Section 1.

I would return it.
