I'd like to try to figure out the age of my dryer. It is a Lady Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care.
Model # 86692820
Serial # m83508227
We bought it used and have had it for the last 9 years, so I know it is at least 10 years old. The signal that tells you it is done drying doesn't work; timed dry only works sometimes. Sometimes it works, other times, you'll go in to check on it and the timer still reads 70 minutes, after it's been in there for about an hour. The lint trap door (located on the top of the dryer) broke off during a move. Now I have to use a butter knife to get the lint trap out. Also, the darn thing won't put out any hot air, only cold air, so we are planning on buying another dryer. I am just curious as to how long this dryer lasted.

According to your serial number it was made in 1988. Does that seem right?

It is most likely correct. We bought the dryer for around $145 back in 2001. I can't believe that dryer lasted that long! WoW! I hope the new one I am getting lasts that long! Thanks so much for answering my question; I've always wondered how old it was, but didn't know that there were forums, like these, on the internet.
