E14 code says to refer to test #3 in the washer tech data sheet and proceeds to remove the drawer and check the magnet. What does the magnet do and where does it go exactly.

To prevent the washer from operating while the detergent drawer is open your machine has what is called a "reed switch". The reed switch is controlled by this magnet, so that when the drawer is closed the magnet causes the reed switch to close and this tells the control board to go ahead and run the machine.

Your error message is telling you the reed switch it not working, so they want you to check the magnet to make sure it is still in place and is working.

This service manual will show you how to check things.
