I replaced the evaporator fan motor and it still does not work. I cannot find the schematic for the control board and I do not know what the voltages going to the fan should be. If anyone knows what the voltages should be, that would be a good start. Thanks.

It is common for bad fan motors to cause the main board to go bad. Pull the cover off the back of the refrigerator to access the main board. Typically when the fan causes the board to go out there will be a burnt resistor on the front of the board. If you see a burnt resistor replace the board.

The best way to check voltage on fan is from the main board. Set your meter to read VDC. Locate the plug marked J2 and place your common lead in pin 3 and your other lead in pin 8. This should read 12-14VDC at all times and if not replace the board provided you have voltage coming to the board. Now if that checks out ok keep the common lead at the same place and place the other lead to pin 4. This should read 8 or 12 volts depending on if it is on high speed or medium speed. Note that this voltage will only be there if the fan should be running. If you do not get voltage here open the refrigerator door for more than three minutes and recheck. Hope this helps! Ok, the voltage between 3 and 8 is 13.5v, and the voltage between 3 and 4 is .5v. There is a resistor by the plug that is burnt. Do you think that only the resistor is bad or could there be other components that were fried and I just can't tell? If the resistor is the only thing fried, what value should it be. I could replace it since it is not surface mount.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that the fried resistor is R95. What value should this be?

The R95 resistor is the one that the fan will burn up. The "official" repair for this is to replace the main board however some people have had success replacing components on the board. I don’t know the resistance value of that resistor. I don’t know if that is the only thing that is bad on the board.

GE is sending some customers main boards free on some models call them and ask. I wouldn’t mention the bad fan motor though.
