I am completely guessing on the age of my dryer... i really do not know. Here's the problem: For a while, you could push the start button, the dryer would start, and then after a few minutes, it would stop. After another few minutes it would start itself again. It would continue this until the full cycle was complete. It then progressed to sometimes it wouldn't even start to begin with, but would eventually start on it's own if you pushed the button and walked away for a few minutes. Now if you push the button it rarely starts at all, just buzzes and turns off. The timer runs out even though the dryer is not going. Any ideas?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LER7646EQ2 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the wiring diagram http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203406692.pdfSounds like your motor is toast. The motor has an internal thermal cutout (thermostat) , it opens if the motor overheats and closes once the motor cools down. This would explain the symptoms you see. Try turning the drum by hand, it should turn fairly easily. If not you will have to open it up to see what is causing the excessive drag. Open it up and clean the motor, if heavily clogged with lint it will overheat. Often the motor will have to be replaced. |
