The cold water won't stop running into my wash machine! I had to turn the water off at the source. It runs no matter whether the machine is off or on...no matter what cycle...wash, rinse, spin...the cold water just keeps running. Can I fix this?

Yes you can (that is fix your washer, not run for President). All you need is about $30.00 and an hour of time. Your problem is your water valve assembly. You need to replace it. Here is the part. Part number: AP3890458

Thank you so very much. I will get the part and attempt to install it. I will let you know how everything goes.

Good. Just a heads up. The only likely problem you will have is getting the cabinet back on. It is tricky the first time. Just make sure you get the front of the cabinet under the frame lip and all the way in. Expect to have to try it a number of times, but it will go back in.
Folks laughed at me the first time I had to do one of these and now I can do it in about a minute.

Thanks for the heads up on the cabinet. That's good to know. I got the part ordered so it should arrive this week sometime and then I will try to put it in. Too bad they couldn't have placed it on the back where the access would be easier. Oh well, sounds like a challenge. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks again!

Silva Then you should have the same solution, but remember this solution is for when the water does not cut off even when the machine is shut down. Here is your part Part number: AP3861119
In your case, you access it by inserting a screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and the front near the edges and releasing clips which hold on the front. Take off the front and you will see two screws holding down the top. Take them out, the top will come off and you should have access to the valves. Heads Up: Getting the top back on can sometimes be tricky because it has to slide under brackets near the console. Just take your time and be patient

Hello, Sidfink43! Thank you so very much for your solution on how to fix my wash machine. I got the part today...followed the instructions link you sent and installed the new water inlet valve and put the machine back together, plugged it back in, turned on the water and it's fixed! I can't thank you enough since we couldn't afford to have someone come and fix it. You are a saint! :)
