So I'm a new homeowner and was given this Kenmore Dryer by a co-worker since the previous homeowner took the dryer with him on the day that we received the keys.

Unfortunately the Kenmore Dryer doesn't heat up. I had the gas guy come out to see if it was the gas line that was causing the problem. He said gas was good...and he was even kind enough to open the access panel in the back and noticed that the ignitor was working as well. His guess was that it was the solenoid (gas valve coil???) that was busted. How do I actually get access to replace the solenoid?

Any help for this noob is appreciated. Thanks!

They should be easy to access once you take off the front of the dryer. They are two black cylinders on the burner assembly. A common version of the part is about $16 from APP.

So how do I actually remove the front of the dryer???

Completely noob at this...I don't see any screws in the front that would just "pop" it off...

There are two clips in the front that hold the top down. Take a putty knife or something else flat and, in the little gap between the top and the front of the dryer, press in to release the clips. You should be able to lift up the front of the lid. There may be a screw or two inside the dryer along with a couple of clips that just pull out that hold the front on to the rest of the dryer. Make sure to support the drum when you pull off the front. Good luck!
