My side by side just stopped making ice. It now only intermittantly makes a humming noise - maybe hums for 5 seconds every 10 minutes - coming from the rear of the unit - sound does not come from the ice maker itself. It stopped dispensing water years ago but the ice maker has always worked until now.

Thanks in advance for your help. Just so you know I'm new here and trying to trouble shoot my ice maker too (not making ice) Mine is a newer unit and i read a thread last evening where a fellow had ice in the line preventing water from traveling to the icemaker. He turned off the water and cleaned out the line thoroughly. Now he states it works like a charm! I'm planning on doing the same. Rich
