Well, go figure..... She's as fickled as can be. After having the last five or so days off, I decided to give her another try before scheduling the swap out with Mom's machine.

I flipped her dial, pushed it and, and Voila! She works just fine. Okay, she squeaks a little sometimes, but I can live with that. I am wondering if the two plastic guides are the source of the squeak. Is there supposed to be felt or something on top of the plastic guides? Mine are just plain plastic.

Thanks!

You are supposed to have felt under the plastic

I'm a little confused. Since the plastic is a stationary part, how does felt under it have any effect on the functioning (and perhaps squeaking) of the unit? Am I misunderstanding what you mean by "under", as in between the plastic and the door frame that holds the plastic glides? Are you saying that there is supposed to be felt around the drum where the plastic glides support the drum?

I used Mom's camera to take these picts. The flash washed them out, but I tried to tone it down as best I could. They are not very good picts, but you can at least get somewhat of an understanding of what my glides look like.

Thanks,
Dobermann

I'm going to order both the glides and the felt pads, since they look like they come separately. Seems I have to give APP a call, as these felt pads, "Requires special attention" per their page.

Either way, it will be good to give them a call and just double check that they are separate parts and that I get the correct ones.

Thanks again for all your help! I'm as stubborn as they come, and really wanted to make this machine work. :o

These may or may not come with a felt backing between the mount and plastic, I cannot remember.

I have the same problem with my maytag. But it also had grinded down the housing for the blower. I took it apart today and the idler lever ass. seems like it is doing the screaching. Should there be slop in the pulley and would this make the drum grind down the blower housing? Thanks for the help.

I just called them, and they said that they are sold separately. The felt pads for my model are not the p/n listed in the breakout, but instead I should order AP2405489 for the felt pads.

I am ordering them today, so I will be keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Again, thanks for all your great help! I really appreciate it!

Roarky, here is a good link on how and where the felt and glide should be installed:

How and where to install felt pads

I found it when researching this problem.
