Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 10/12/2009(UTC) Posts: 1		My washer suddenly shut off in mid-cycle. Now it will not turn on. All the wiring seems to be in place. There is some rust on the bottom part of the washer and around the green ground wire. What could be wrong with it if it is not the ground?

Rank: Advanced Member Groups: Senior Expert Joined: 3/29/2009(UTC) Posts: 11,699		The ground is not causing your problem. You could have a frayed or broken wire that is grounding out the system. A couple of suggestions. 1. Empty it and start it up and see if you get any filling of water. If so, you should check out the lid switch. 2. Check to see that you are getting power to the washer, and then trace the wiring to see if power is getting to the timer. Check all the wiring to the timer and from it to see if it there is a broken connection, or frayed spot or broken wire. Good luck, and let us know what you find out.

You may want to try unplugging your unit...make sure its balanced and try starting it. Most modern day washers will shut down if they are off balance. If that does not work refer to your manual or search for a reset button. If that doesnt work I then you may want to contact a serviceman because a number of things could be wrong with your washer. good luck.
