Hi
My GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave over started making a loud humming noise accompanied with electrical burning odor. It might sound normal (depending on the setting) for the first few seconds but shortly thereafter the humming and odor starts. I saw similar problems posted but thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for any help!

If the noise is more like a deep growl, it is likely to be a failing power transformer.

Thanks for the reply. I would not call it a deep grow but a loud humm like a electric motor that is on but can't turn...and of course the burning smell. Any chance it could be the HV Diode? Magnetron? If I take the unit apart, will any of these parts appear damaged?
