I was wondering if you could help figure out why the washer make a clunking or banging noise when the spin cycle is over and what part could be brkoe. the washer was bought new 12/07.

If it spins up to speed, you have dragging brake shoes. Go to my "sticky" "replacing direct drive brake shoes" for info.
