I replaced the Glide strip and rear bearing. The drum is still hard to turn and dryer only runs for a short time.
The install instruction on the Glide strip said the drum lip must have the paint intact. The paint was worn off but the surface was smooth. Could the missing paint be the problem?

You may have the glides mounted backwards. It should be glued as shown:

It would be worth it to go ahead and replace the motor on this model. The newer electronic stuff is crap.
