Hey all, I have a GE stove and one of the burners went out. So I ordered the first switch in the list and replaced the bad one. Everything seems to work ok.

The burner is an 8 inch burner. The old switch was a 240v 2040w switch.

However, being dumb - and never doing this before - the switch I ordered was a 240v 1560w switch, which I have since found out was for the 6 inch burner. Here's my question - What will happen to this 1560w switch on this 8 inch burner? Will it work OK? Will it burn out? It currently seems fine, will it stay that way?

Thanks!

i think the switch will prematurly fail. it would try to compensate for difference in wattage +stay on longer to try to keep the element hot enough, perhaps element wont get as hot with this switch
