Just picked up a free washer, fills with correct temp water and agitates fine, however, when the spin cycle comes up, the washer does nothing, makes absolutely no noise. I've checked the deck lid switch at the wires going into the timer unit, and its working perfectly. according to the wiring diagram, it is sending power down the wire leading to the motor control unit. turned unit over and everything is intact, belt a little loose, but not enough to keep it from agitating. everything move freely. any ideas guys?

If it is, then the possibilities are the spin bearing, transmission or something binding in the tub. If it is not check the lid switch by by-passing it and check the pump for an obstruction. Let us know what you find out.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 10/3/2009(UTC) Posts: 2		shorted the door switch to no avail, motor made absolutely no noise or movement. Was able to spin the belt that drives the pump on the bottom freely, so the pump is clear, any ideas?

It sounds like you are saying that the motor is not getting power and is not turning when the machine is in spin mode. This suggest that it is not getting power from the timer, and this suggests the timer will have to be replaced. Given the age of the machine, the cost of parts and the fact that a new timer may not solve the problem you may want to consider buying a new or good used machine.
