I am trying to figure out how to put on the replacement belt on this roper dryer. the whirlpool diagrams look nowhere near what the roper is as far as the pulley goes. I have the dryer apart and new belt on but need to figure out how the belt runs through the pulley system. It is not a wheel, simply a metal tension whatchamacallit! please help!!!!

Boy, easy to do but hard to describe.

The principle is the same as for an idler with a pulley wheel. Yours just has the metal sleeve, but you press it down and loop the belt along it just the same as in the diagram.

My personal recommendation is that an idler with a wheel is a much better setup and I suggest you spend a little money and buy and install this idler

I think the design you have is a contributor to the belt breaking, and that you will be much happier and have less repairs if you replace the idler with this one which you can get from this site or any appliance parts store.
