Whirlpool dishwasher has been getting louder and louder every time I turn it on.The unit otherwise runs good from what i can see,it's filling, draining and running through the cycles. The best I can tell the sound is coming from the motor.any info on what this could be?

1.Could be the motor getting ready to go but if the unit is not too old then this is unlikely. Did you check the security of mount of the motor?
2. The pump impeller on the motor shaft could be starting to fail. The impeller problem usually starts with some hard debris getting trapped near the impeller and the rubbing upsets the balance and the plastic part fails.
3. The impeller is hitting debris as it pumps water and if you remove the debris the problem might stop.

thanks for replying,I thought the same things and I've isolated the noise to the motor.when the motor kicks on the noise starts and when the motor stops the noise stops. It definitely sounds like a motor winding out if that makes sense.this dishwasher is about 3 yrs old.so i'm surprised and gets run at most once a day.If you or anyone has any further info i would appreciate it.
