New to the forum -- first post, so be gentle! :)
Have a side-by-side Whirlpool refrigerator, with ice maker in the freezer (not the door) and in-door dispenser (the model without the control screen on the front, just buttons). I keep getting ice jammed inside the crushing mechanism (in the diagram on the first reply below, the ice is getting jammed in the space between parts 30 and 37), just before it is ejected into the chute. Have to open the freezer and remove the ice from the mechanism. Motor and auger both function when the crusher is not jammed.
First time it happened, I suspected the auger, so I removed the tank and defrosted it. Afterward I replaced the tank and the auger spun. When I tried dispensing ice the next day, a few cubes came out, then it stopped again. That's when I noticed there was ice jammed in the crusher. Every time I remove the jammed ice, a few cubes come out and it jams again. Any ideas why it isn't funneling through the crusher properly??
P.S. My wife and I do not even prefer crushed ice -- we hardly use the crusher! However, the whole cubes funnel through the crushing mechanism on the way to the chute, and the crusher is on the auger, so when it jams, no ice can be dispensed. In other words, the crusher jams and prevents ice from being dispensed even when whole cubes are being dispensed. Tried dispensing only crushed after clearing it, but it still jammed.
Thanks for any help you can offer!!
Bob

Here is the diagram showing the relevant parts -- the ice is getting jammed in the space between parts 30 and 37, just before it is ejected to the chute... Bob schoaps attached the following image(s):
