I ordered parts from Jenn-Air to put a main wash cup cap in the dishwasher in our new home. I received the detergent lid (I threw away the product #); I also ordered and received the cup lid spring #Y912547 and the pin hinge #Y912679. Okay, I have the parts; now how do I install them in the door at the place for the main wash lid?

After looking at a picture of the door it would appear that the spring sits on the long hinge side in the slot. Usually you install the spring then place the door in the washer and insert hinge pins. The key is that the spring will have light force when the door is open and will have more force when the door is latched. So position the door with the spring inside, you may have to lift one tang on the spring slightly to get it in then slide the hinge pin(s) into the door. Does that help?
