I was away for 5 days, come back to my stove beeping and the f-1 error message. Called in to Jennair, they said unplug it to reset it etc. Still beeping. I pulled the plug, now have no stove. I cannot put several hundred dollars in to fix this very faulty never-again Jennair stove. This was not a cheap stove. Old ones lasted forever. Do I just dump it or what?

F1 means that there is a problem with either the keypad control panel or the electronic control itself. Here's what they say about it.
F1 touch pad / ERC test This simple test will help determine whether the ERC (Electronic Range Control or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present. Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock). Warning: If you feel in any way uncomfortable performing this test or making this repair, please contact a qualified appliance repair technician. 1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing. 2. Gain access inside the control panel. 3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC. 4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was. 5. Turn the power back on. 6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound). 7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.

Thanks. Last winter I did something like this when the touch pad stopped working for some of the buttons. I decided I'd live without some of the keys instead of pouring money into a defective stove since I'll be renovating my kitchen pretty soon and the stove definitely has to be replaced. But it never did this beeping until recently, so I will try what you say and hope for the best. Perhaps I can sell the stove, it's not that old. Thanks, I'll tell you how it goes. Judy

You may want to also try the below
Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |
