Every few weeks, without warning, our microwave BANGS! (as loud as a gunshot -- terrifying!) when we press START in the cook mode. The unit then proceeds to perform beautifully -- as usual. We use it primarily to defrost, reheat, etc. Food is always covered.

Have called repair people, but they tell me unless it bangs when they try it, they can't help me. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I never heard about such problem and your repair people were right saying that it is not possible to diagnose it if it would not do it at the time of service.

Gene.
