I have a GE Advantium Microwave/Convection/ETC oven.
The interior bulb died. We've replaced it.
Now the bulb says lit and the turn table is turning all the time.

The common component is a "main relay" - either the main relay is shorted closed or the control board is telling it to stay closed.

1) How do I find the main relay?

For those in the future that want to avoid the $250 service call for replacing that internal light, here's how you do it:

the turntable motor doesn't seem to go through the MAIN RELAY

it goes through the FAN MOTOR RELAY on the SUB P.C.B.

Hmmm... I don't know what the deal is.. The microwave had a circuit diagram in it, buried near one of the boards.
That diagram shows the main relay feeding the turn table, the interior light, and the exhaust fan.

This one does show the turntable motor and fan motor (exhaust) being connected to the Fan Motor relay...

Here's the "short" question:
If a relay on one of the boards is bad, can that relay be replaced or are most service persons going to want to replace the entire board (component)?

they replace the whole board.
you may be able to replace the relay if you can find a replacement (not too difficult ), and know how to solder.

I had a similar problem. The light burnt out and after replacing it the light stays on with turn table and fan. The relay is RY1 which is found on the main board behind the display and buttons.
The fix. Tap on the RY1 relay with a screw driver.

I followed your directions and tapped the relay and VOILA! the carousel stopped and the light turned off. It was interesting to note that I heard several relays clicking after I repowered the unit and set the time. I hadn't noticed that before when I was unplugging and replugging the microwave - and resetting the clock each time so I could use it. Thanks again.

My husband tried to fix our microwave after this happened and he was ready to order a new one. When I got home from work, I asked him if he would let me try to find this relay RY1 and tap on it. FOUND IT and it worked for us too. Our microwave is over 10 years old and still looks very nice. This post save us a lot of money. Thank you!!!!!
