Find three screws (#8-32) that are a half inch longer than the ones used on the brake stator. Assemble the brake spring and rotor, and start the connection with the long screws. When they start to draw the stator in, add the short ones. The pattern will alternate long, short, long, short... Tighten them equally and when they're snug, tighten the short ones. This will take some time, but it beats purchasing the brake tool--unless you plan to do this for a living.

I have completed the repair on this washer using the parts for the high torque tranny on my old tranny . After a month of use all seems to be working great.
