My dryer is leaving brown/rust marks on at least one item in every load. I called a repair person today who said he never heard of this problem. I took this to be a sign that he might not be the person for the job, and decided to have a look inside my dryer. I'm adventurous but not very mechanically knowledgeable--still, I'm willing to have a go at replacing the felt ring.

How do I remove the front panel? Also, I felt around the front felt and found a 1/4 inch gap. Could this be the problem?

Thanks for your help!

You did not post the complete model number, but I think on these models you release the top by inserting a screw driver in the gap between the front and the top at the edges, which releases a clip. The top will then flip up, and the front will come off by undoing two screws which hold it to the cabinet.

If you need more info please check and post the full model number.

Thanks

Thanks--that sounds right. I'll give it a try.
