My 30-yr old oven has gotten temperamental lately. It is a standing pilot, drop-down pilot type. The pilot stasy lit all the time. Then when you turn the thermostat up, the pilot drops down and heats up a little thermocuple, which is a attached to a gas valve. if all works well, then the gas valve opens and the burner lights.
But lately, gas valve seems to take forever to open and the burner light. I suspect the little thermocouple is going bad or the gas valve. However at times the thermostat(knob) seems to be kind of hard at first.
Any suggestions? Any help will be Appreciated!

No doubt the gas safety valve has to be replaced.

Possible the thermostat is getting bad too.

Due to the age of the unit I can not find any information on-line.

Call the APP customer service and they might help you better.

Gene.
