Hi, I am having a heck of a time- I have a Maytag dryer model # PYE2200AYW- it quit while my husband was drying a load. I have replaced the fuses and timer. Now it will come on but shuts off after about 5 mins. and will not run at all on Fluff. Not sure what the issue is or how to go about fixing..... would really appreciate any help with this thing.... Thanks- Sherry:confused: :)

Will it start right back up after it stops? If not how long do you have to wait, or what do you have to do to get it to restart?

HI Frank- thanks for responding..... it only takes a few mins. for it to cool down enough to just hit the knob and it comes back on. I was not sure if maybe I rewired the timer wrong or if the fuses I replaced (the two on/at the element) might be easily tripped. The vent is clear/clean.... not sure what else to try..... any ideas? Thanks a bunch..... Sherry

Double checking the timer wiring would be a good idea. If you look at page 7 on the parts breakdown it should help you with showing which colored wire goes on which terminal.

The thermostats shouldn't stop the entire dryer from running, just the heating element. It is possible you've got a motor that is overheating and the built in thermal protector is kicking it out. Once it cools down then the motor will restart.

Also make sure you've got a good free flowing vent. I'm afraid it's going to probably come down to someone using a volt meter to see what's going on.
