I have a whirlpool side by side that is 5 yrs old.A couple of days ago it started leaking water from underneath.I found that the water was coming from the housing that the filter goes in.It was a constant drip.I blamed this on the cheap filter cartridge I had put in a couple of months ago-(not a genuine whirlpool filter).it had filled up the pan and overflowed-(ruined my brand new laminate floor:mad:).Anyway,I went today and bought a genuine whirlpool filter and when I took the old filter out the water did not automatically shut off,it just kept running. The water always shut off when I removed a filter before,as I have changed it every 6 months since the machine was new. What could be wrong with it? Thanks in advance for your help! DS
