I have a GE fridge. For the last 5 months I have been having problems with the water line freezing on occasion. I have adjusted the temperatures in the freezer section to multiple settings to see if that would correct the problem. Yet, on every setting from the coldest to the warmest the water line freezes. The only solution that seems to work is opening up the freezer and refrigerator doors for 3 to 5 minutes to thaw the line. I have nothing blocking the air intakes. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this and has anyone else complained about this type of problem on this model?

Had the same problem in my garbage GE unit that is about 5 yrs old. Need a kit put out by GE. It's a resistance wire that goes on the freezer door internals behind the control panel. Not a big deal but a rip off from ge. Another case of ultimately bad engineering again from them. The wire generates very small amount of heat just enough to prevent the water in the line from freezing.
