A few months ago, the water from the door stopped working, couple of weeks ago the icemaker stopped working. both cases, dont see water is coming. Possibly I need to replace the water inlet valve, however I would like to know if it is water inlet valve or the wiring. Is there a way to check whether the water inlet valve is ok or not before I replace it. the part no. is 2182106.

thanks

Pull the fridge off and check if there is an in line water filter on the back.

If there is one - it could be clog due to age.

there is no water fliter, the pipe straight goes into the inlet valve, which seems to have two soloenoids (?). with two water pipes for water and icemaker, water seems to be making into the inlet valve, however not from the the valve. Is it possible to check the inletvalve with some multimeter to make sure it is not working before I replace it. How do I check the wiring, if valve is OK.

thanks a lot for your time.

There are the two solenoids with the two water tubes as you mentioned.

The 1/4" tube for the ice maker water line and the 5/16" tube for the water dispenser line.

Remove the electric plug from the water dispenser solenoid and check for 120V across the plug terminals while someone else push the water dispenser lever.

If there is 120V then the water valve is bad and has to be replaced.

If there is no 120V then the problem with the water dispenser or wires.

If there is 120V to the water dispenser solenoid, put the water dispenser plug on the ice maker solenoid and check if water will flow to the ice maker.

- The part number for the water inlet valve is AP3085178
